  For dessert, I personally had the Ube ice cream, and it tasted like your standard store bought variety. My friends tried their flan and I was told it was delicious. I looked around at other tables and the Halo Halo looked very appealing, but rather large for 1 person, so I didn't get a chance to try it.

  For improvements, the service needs refinement mostly because I think the restaurant is still new. For example, we stood for many minutes before anyone attended to us to be seated. As well, the servers are all over the place, so if you want service, you will have to wave someone down.

  Another thing which totally ruined the experience was that after we paid the bill, HE FROWNED AND DISPLAYED A DISAPPOINTED FACIAL EXPRESSION after receiving a not so generous but for us it was fair tip, due to the service we received. Why would anyone give a 15% gratuity if the service was only worth way lower than that? Like come on? You didn’t even check if our food was okay nor provided enough water.

  Other dishes I have tried provided redemption, one appetizer included a unique (but definitely not healthy) deep fried chicken skin. It was like eating pork rinds but chicken and very rich/fatty. The crab meat fried rice was excellent, prepared in an almost Chinese style. The beef sisig was served on a hot plate, it was tasty, but borderline too salty. The BBQ pork skewers were my favourite as it had a lot of flavour and was very yummy.

  It was my first time visiting a Filipino restaurant and it was a good food experience. Our server gave my table some solid suggestions and we went with most of the recommendations. All of Max's dishes are family style so it is meant for sharing.

  Food taste was great, it reminded me of home. Ambience was good as well, location was a bit hard to find even with GPS but that’s probably because the restaurant’s still new. Some gripes about this place was the male server we had, he was courteous upon asking our orders (that he’s supposed to) after providing our scrumptious order, the food wasn’t that warm and it was served a bit longer than expected with a few customers present, the server didn’t even check on us the whole time we’re there after serving, he only noticed us when we ask for our dessert which was “so-so”.

  I wish I didn't have any experience going in a Max's restaurant when I visited Philippines. Food is far from good. I asked my Filipino friends and they said they're disappointed too. They should improve their kitchen to represent Filipino cuisine better.

  The claim to fame for Max's is their fried chicken and I thought it was okay. It is best described as a good home-cooked fried chicken, not too breaded, and not over spiced. It was a young chicken so it was smaller in size. I've had all sorts of fried chicken before, Max's is alright in comparison, but slightly disappointing for a signature dish.

  Service was slow, our food takes forever to come out. Our server Josh did not bother to ask us if we need anything. We have to go to the cashier desk to pay; our server is nowhere to be found. The cashier was nice though, and I pointed out that Josh is our server and Josh was called and he was more than happy to tell me that gratuity is not yet added to my bill. He saw me checking my bill. Well, I tip well, if you deserve it, and if service is good and you don’t print suggested tip in your bill, that’s so low.

  Overall, the food was good, and I would go back to try the peanut beef stew, which looked like a very popular dish at Max's. I believe the food is good quality, and you know it when you see other Filipino people eat there as well.

  Just heads up that this restaurant automatically charges service Tip on your bill of 15%. So extra tip is on your discretion.
