  Certech is a scam artist. $150.00 for the inspection, plus $1,100.00 plus another vehicle inspection for $50.00. That would not have been a bad haul.

  We've been taking our vehicles to Certech for years, always worked out well for us. The service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. It'd be more convenient if they worked weekends, but I guess you can't have everything.

  The second bad run in was when my girlfriend had her car towed here. I thought the alternator had gone since the car would not turn over (but there was power, ruling out the battery as the culprit). They charged her for a new battery, and fed her a bunch of other BS about needing to replace the discs on her brakes.

  Seems like others have had the same issue. Took my vehicle in for out of province inspection. I had a work order of a bunch of work done in Sask just a month before it was brought here. They diagnosed worn rotors and loose tie rod requiring a tie rod replacement and wheel alignment. $1,100 quote.

  I took it to Scenic Acres Husky. They did replace the rotors, BUT, they said the rotors had been turned and were still acceptable, all brake shoes appeared new and the tie rod was tight and in great shape. The steering was fine.

  I also got an engine shampoo, had the work done, including a new window regulator put in, for under $600.00.

  Con artists: I brought my truck in to get an out of province inspection. They found complaint with a horn that still made noise, wiper blades that still cleaned my window, as well as a bunch of other issues that upon a second opinion, were not required. This was the beginning of my experience with this shop.

  UPDATE: I took the vehicle to Canadian Tire for the Vehicle Inspection. Scenic Acres Husky did not touch the tie rod or do a wheel alignment and the vehicle passed inspection. These guys just were looking for a make work project. Its too bad when you can't trust a neighborhood garage.
